Jack Renko

  I believe that all of us reach points in our lives when we say to
ourselves: “I’ve had enough!”, “I’m out of here!”, “I want out of
the rat race!”, “I need a break!”.
  It seems everything is moving so fast, hurry here and hurry
there, cell phones and computers smothering us with
communication, multiple obligations – faster and faster we go,
our lives speeding by. There is more and more to accomplish
and get done in our everyday lives. Some of us can walk away
from it all, but most of us cannot. In our minds we dream of
getting away, maybe just for a little while, maybe forever!
  This is what I am thinking about when I am painting panoramic
views of nature. There are no people, buildings, roads, or cities
in my paintings, just absolute nature and absolute peace. These
are places to go for peace, reflection, reconnection and moments
of escape from the worldly into the spiritual. The viewer is
looking and getting away.
  I started painting a little later in life, after I had experienced
war, poverty, divorce, grief, frustration, and an edginess that
would not leave me until I started painting. I am self taught, with
no formal training, as with everything in my life. I am dyslectic
and thru the years have had to develop my own ways of learning!
I am also colorblind and must rely on the color wheel when
painting. I taught myself different styles of painting. I have
painted portraits, still life, and abstracts but my heart and love
will always be impressionist paintings of my own unique style that
are of mountains, water and sky.
  I hope whoever is looking at my painting sees beauty and has
absolute peace, even if it is only for a little while. Thank you for
