Raised in Cleveland, I began taking art classed on Saturday mornings as
a child at the Cleveland Institute of Art, studying under Hodermarsky.  I
received my BFA from Ohio University in 1968 with a major in Graphic
Design and a minor in Painting.  I worked as a graphic designer at
Penton Publishing before choosing to stay home and raise my three
children.  This allowed me to spend every spare moment refining my
skills as an artist.  I was accepted into an art residency at the Vermont
Studio Center in 1999 where I participated in a workshop taught by Wolf
Kahn.  I have also attended a workshop taught by Chuck Basham who
along with Kahn is a nationally recognized creative landscape artist.

I have participated in many juried exhibitions over the years , awarded
some honors, and had several solo exhibitions.  My work is currently on
exhibit in local and national galleries and in the collection of Ohio State
University’s Fisher College of Business  and various other private
collections.

The focus of my work is to meld abstract composition with objects in
reality, landscape or otherwise.   This approach allows for more creative
flexibility and encourages me to infuse a sense of mystery into my work.  I
hope to engage the viewer and encourage them to explore both the work
and their reaction to it.  For me, painting is a path to enlightenment
through personal vision.  In an attempt to preserve painting as a rich
medium of discourse, my goal is to communicate, to remain open to
individual interpretation, to create a sense of beauty and to present the
familiar in an unfamiliar way.
