Jeanie enjoyed being a “kid” artist. As an adult, she earned
undergraduate and graduate degrees in [Art] Education from
Missouri’s Truman University, did postgraduate work in Education
at Arizona State University, studied at The Kansas City Art institute,
The Columbus College of Art and Design, The Design Institute of
Columbus, and The Ohio State University Colleges of Landscape
Architecture and Industrial Design. She obtained a Doctorate in Art
Education from The Ohio State University. Her artform for many
years was art teaching and advocacy for fine arts programs in
public education for which she received local, state and national
teaching honors.
She recently reclaimed her personal art making and began
experimenting with materials and techniques new to her -
permanent dyes and mixed media on 2-D surfaces. The
unpredictable images that dyes and forms of resist often create,
immediately caught her imagination. So began her current journey
of art making with dyes and other media on a variety of 2-D
surfaces. Her colorful artworks have been selected for many group
and solo exhibits and frequently reflect repetition and randomness
in nature - as well as the effects of light on shapes, lines, textures
and patterns in the world around us.
