| Joanne Edwards |
Joanne was born in the Chicago area and didn't begin her formative
art training until she relocated to Cincinnati, at the Art Academy of
Cincinnati, in 1984. Her early works were inspired by Mary Cassatt
with numerous portrait commissions. She won a First Year
Scholarship from the Art Academy of Cincinnati, graduating with a
BFA in 1993 Magnum Cum Laude and Class Valedictorian. She
concentrated on impressionist painting and studies of Monet, Van
Gogh and Matisse. Her paintings traveled for several years with the
Cinergy Collection with works on display at Senator DeWine's
offices. Her artwork is held in many private collections and exhibited
in numerous solo and group shows. Her oil paintings have been
exhibited and sold in numerous art galleries, including Masterpiece
Gallery in Oakley, Closson's of Cincinnati, the Guenther Gallery and
Design in Itasca, IL, and the River's Edge Gallery at the Cincinnati
Airport. Joanne has been a member of the Cincinnati Art Club, the
Queen City Art Club, and the Indiana Plein Air Society and currently
with the Ohio Plein Air Society for the past six years. Joanne recently
moved to Lake Waynoka n Sardinia, Ohio and displays her work for
sale in the Lake Waynoka Restaurant. In 2009-2010 Joanne took
classes in watercolor at Southern States Community College with
James Werline to add a new medium to paint with. She joined the
Lake Waynoka Civic Club in 2009 and hosted the First & Second
Annual Plein Air Pzint-out and Auction with the Civic Club and the
Ohio Plein Air Society, to benefit scholarships at Southern State
Community College. In 2011 she began teaching plein air
workshops with Southern State Community College.
