Kelly McCollam was born and raised in Cincinnati, OH. She has a studio in the
Pendleton Art Center downtown where she showcases her fine art photography
and mixed media work.
Kelly graduated in May of 2010 from Ball State University where she received
her BFA in Photography. She loves to use everyday objects, like salt, spices,
post-it notes, or wood and nails to create unique pointillism inspired images. One
of her most well-known series is entitled "Salt of the Earth," in which she creates
landscapes out of salt and food-coloring.
After each landscape is constructed and photographed, it is then swept away,
leaving only the photograph as evidence of it's original existence. The act of
discarding each landscape emphasizes the ephemeral qualities of the medium, as
well as life itself.
Her work has been featured in various shows and exhibitions including the
Louisville Water Tower Regional Exhibition. Her work has also been on display at
the Malton Art Gallery and she is proud to be a featured artist with Robin Color
Lab.
