Canton artist Lynn Weinstein is an artist who paints with imagination,
seldom following a preconceived plan. She prefers to rely less on
realistic images and more on that elusive, ethereal image of the
mind. The use of different approaches, techniques, and mediums,
depending on the subject, are what directs the artist’s path. Mood
and atmosphere are what takes precedence and dictates her
creative process.
The artist is never quite sure where a painting will lead to, or end up.
This is intentional on her part. The creative process is its own
reward, rather than the end result. If the finished painting conveys a
sense of place, emotion, or excitement and gives the viewer reason
to pause then it is a success.
Her style has always been described by teachers and fellow
students as “painterly,” free- flowing and expressive. The water-
based mediums are what makes her work flow, merge, and “dance
with each other,” all for a wonderful effect. This is a challenging way
to paint, because the painting directs its own outcome.
The artist is grateful for the opportunity to share her work, and
welcomes the chance to exhibit what inspires her. She awaits the
path that the next brush stroke will take her!
