capture landscapes that I have seen only fleetingly on travels across the
country. However, much of my work depicts scenes that I have visited to
study and absorb. I know that such images, whether studied or viewed only
briefly, will return in my artwork in many ways, be it the mood of a sky, the
angle of a tree branch, the interplay of colors, or the sensuous warmth
of a well remembered day."

Mary Jane Erard is an award-winning artist painting in soft pastel, oil
pastel, gouache and oil. Her works are usually rural landscapes of the
mid-western US and Europe. In the past 10 years Mary Jane's paintings
have been accepted in over 55 juried exhibitions and have won over 35
awards. She has also exhibited in over 11 national and international solo
shows. Mary Jane's artwork has been published several times in national
magazines and books, including the art book "Best of American Pastel
Artists II", published in 2009 and "The Parklander" magazine about her
recent exhibit in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Mary Jane is a juried member of the
Pastel Society of America. She requently has work on display and for sale
at the Collector's Corner at the Toledo Museum of Art, Space 237 Gallery
in Toledo, and at Galleria 1712 in Chicago.
